Every Third Saturday - Helping Veterans Find Hope

It’s about community and hope, and it all started in a mini-van.

Every Third Saturday was established to help homeless veterans receive clothing, blankets, and personal items. After years of hard work and community support, they have expanded and also assist veterans in finding new purpose after military service through three programs. These programs; Pop Smoke, Warrior’s Path, and the supply distribution foster hope and support post-traumatic growth.

Now, serving veterans across the Twin Cities, it was time for a new home and a place to connect.

Recently, Tradition was honored to be part of their groundbreaking ceremony for the new Veterans Center! This facility will serve as a permanent home and a community hub for veterans and their families. The new center is located just blocks away from the Minneapolis VA Health Care System.

Every Third Saturday’s Co-Founder, Tom Mckenna, plans to create a place to gather and serve veterans across the Twin Cities just like the American Legion or VFW posts but alcohol-free. A welcoming place to be together and offer support and understanding.

The ground floor will offer a coffee shop and patio, called Rick’s Coffee Bar, that will be open to the public and staffed by veterans. The coffee bar’s name is in honor of an Air Force veteran who died by suicide. There will also be private space for veterans and their families. Plus, a Veterans Resource and Empowerment Center, Fitness Center, and a store with donated clothing, blankets, shoes, and personal products.

A tentative grand opening is planned for Memorial Day 2022.
