Pinky Swear Foundation

Helping kids with cancer and their families with financial and emotional support

That is the Pinky Swear Foundation's mission that they carry out each and every day through their amazing programs. With only a team of 12 people at the Minnesota office, they are small but mighty. The foundation has raised over $14,000,000 and supported over 12,000 families since 2003.

The Pinky Swear Story

The Pinky Swear Foundation was founded after Mitch Chepokas (9 years old) died of bone cancer in 2003. But before he passed he made a pinky swear promise with his dad that he would carry out Mitch's wish of helping children who have cancer and their families.

What an inspiring young man!!

Executive Director, Erica Campbell, notes that her job at Pinky Swear is "a lifelong dream". Supporting families and children with cancer is Campbell's life passion and her goal is to take Pinky Swear to the next level. Campbell also mentions the fact that one of the most amazing things about Pink Swear is that it is "Kids Helping Kids". Children all over the country donate their time and effort to support the All-Stars and their families. She says that it is so amazing to see children getting involved and helping out in the community at such a young age.

  • Orange Envelope
    • A 'virtual hug' where families whose child is recently diagnosed with cancer receive a personal letter from the Pinky Swear founders, Mitch all-star trading card, All-star family guide, and a small financial gift
  • Envelope Program
    • The Envelope Program eases the financial stress of cancer. This program can help with rent, mortgages, car payments, car repairs, groceries, gas, childcare, and much more.
  • Pinky Swear Pantry
    • The foundation currently stocks food pantries at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital and Levine Children's Hospital.

    • All-Star Weekends
      • The All-star weekend is essentially a "staycation" where children and their families can step away from the hospital and have some time to themselves.

Pinky Swear had an amazing year of events and made tremendous strides for raising money for the 4 programs.

A single event in 10/2017 raised almost $900,000!

Three things the foundation would like to see in 2018:

    1. Diversify Revenue
    2. Increase Youth Involvement
    3. Operational Excellence
