HopeKids-Minnesota
There are approximately 500,000 children in the Unites States suffering from life-threatening medical conditions each year. A child bearing a life-threatening disease is unimaginable and is also extremely difficult for the parents and siblings. HopeKids has made it their goal to ensure hope and love into the families that are going through a hard time such as a life-threatening disease.
HopeKids has five chapters within the United States in Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Minnesota, and Texas. These chapters have programs and events where families are welcome to join for support and encouragement. HopeKids events are intentionally created for the families with children with life-threatening diseases to be reminded that they are not alone, that there is hope for the future, and there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
The HopeKids Minnesota chapter, with 3 employees, is a small team but they sure do make a difference. As of 2017, 198 new families have been added to the MN chapter and they are looking forward to continued growth into 2018.
Supporting 1300 Families
MISSION
HopeKids provides ongoing events, activities and a powerful, unique support community for families who have a child with cancer or some other life-threatening medical condition. We surround these remarkable children and their families with the message that hope can be a powerful medicine.
The House that Hope Built
A couple months ago Tradition Pass It On wrote a Spotlight on HopeKids centering in on the House that Hope Built. The Hope House was built and designed by Robert Thomas Homes. The net proceeds and cash donations brought $400,000 to HopeKids Minnesota. With donations like the Hope House, HopeKids can provide events and activities for the kids and families of HopeKids such as the suite at the Xcel Energy Center.
HopeKids creates a sense of community and the connections that the families are building will last a lifetime. HopeKids conducted a survey and happy to report that the results show that there is a huge increase in the connection between the families. Confirming that HopeKids is a support system of hope, love, and appreciation for children and families.
HopeKids claims, "We can't do what we do without support". Donations and volunteer hours are crucial to the events and programs for HopeKids. To learn more on how to volunteer or donate, click HERE. For other ways to get involved, visit https://www.hopekids.org/get-involved/.
